The Brooklyn Lyceum
an old Bathhouse that:
- Opened up up on January 1st, 1910.
- Remained a bathhouse in its entirety from 1910-1937.
- In 1937 it was, for a variety of reasons, shut down and a 5 year WPA renovation began.
- Re-opened in 1942 with no pool and fewer shower but with a gym where the pool used to be.
- Remained a gym till the late 60s-early 70s.
- Spent a short period of time as a cultural center
- Was sold by the city
- Went thru several owners hands
- 1995 - added Cafe and theater to the Gym activities
- 2008 - Added Lyceum marketplaces to the mix
